The Importance of Being Earnest (1895) is a three-act comedy of manners by Oscar Wilde. It is one of the most famous plays in the English theatre canon and remains one of the most effective skewerings of the social elites in the Western world. The play tells the story of Jack Worthing, a 29-year old English gentleman, who assumes the fictional identity of a man named Ernest. Ultimately, once questions are raised about his birth for the purposes of both his intended engagement as well as that of the young woman whom he is guardian of, he discovers that the lie he’s been living isn’t so far a stretch of the truth after all.

Unfortunately, we are not offering a dinner theatre option with this production, however, we are excited to return to dinner theatre and other production-specific events in future semesters in the new Resinski Blackbox Theatre at the Connors Family Fine Arts Center.
