About this Event
1425 11th Ave, Altoona, PA 16601
This workshop culminates in the launch of a stratospheric balloon carrying CubeSat payloads into near space!
Students and teachers will integrate their CubeSats onto the balloon, ensuring all systems are functional before liftoff. Troubleshooting will be a key part of the process, as teams work together to resolve any last-minute
issues. Once launched, the balloon will ascend into the stratosphere, providing a rare opportunity to collect real-world atmospheric data. After the descent, the payload will be recovered, and participants will analyze the data
captured during the flight. CubeSats will then be returned to student and teacher researchers for further study.
This hands-on experience offers a powerful introduction to high-altitude research, satellite technology, and
aerospace engineering—perfect for those interested in real-world STEM applications.
Teams will be invited to present their research at Saint Francis University’s research day in November 2025.
