Excel Bootcamp: Master the Essentials and Advanced Features of Excel

We invite you to join us for a hands-on 3-day Excel bootcamp at the Curry Innovation Center in Altoona, PA taught by Dr. John Miko.  This 3-day course will increase your knowledge level and productivity in Excel by reviewing the most useful basic and advanced tools and techniques in the software package. At the conclusion of the training, all participants will earn a certification badge issued by SFU that can be displayed on LinkedIn.

What/Course Topics/Tentative Schedule:

Day 1  

• Introduction to Excel interface and basic navigation including the most helpful shortcut keys 
• Entering and editing data in Excel 
• Basic formatting of cells and worksheets for display and printing 
• Simple mathematical formulas and functions (e.g. SUM, COUNT,AVERAGE) 
• Introduction to basic chart creation 
• Advanced charting techniques including combination charts sparklines, data bars 

Day 2  

• Advanced formatting techniques (e.g. conditional formatting, cell styles) 
• Advanced mathematical functions (e.g. IF, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, COUNTIF)
• Grouping worksheets and 3-D refererence 
• Using Excel for data analysis (e.g. sorting, filtering, subtotals) 
• Introduction to Tables, PivotTables, Pivot Charts, Slicers, and Timelines 

Day 3  

• Advanced PivotTable and PivotChart techniques including Dashboard creation 
• Advanced What-IF Analysis (e.g. Goal Seek, Data Tables, Scenario Manager) 
• Utilizing Excel for Forecasting 
• Application and Recording of Macros for automating tasks
